Subject: Revised scheme for grant of scholarship
to the children of officers/staff of the
Department pursuing various professional courses
at graduate level for the academic session
2006-07- Regarding.
The existing Scholarship Scheme 2005-06 for
grant of scholarship to the children of
departmental officials, pursuing professional
courses at graduate level has been reviewed by
the Governing Body constituted to administer the
Customs and Central Excise Welfare Fund. A copy
of the revised Scholarship Scheme 2006-2007, for
the academic year 2006-2007, approved by the
Governing Body is enclosed.
2. The said Scholarship Scheme 2006-2007 may be
circulated to the lowest level of the offices
under your jurisdiction and to the officials on
deputation to other organizations from your
Commissionerate/Directorate.
3. The jurisdictional Commissioners/Directors
are requested to send applications in respect of
eligible children of the departmental officials
in the prescribed proforma (enclosed), duly
recommended by the Advisory Committee of the
respective Commissionerates along with attested
photocopies of relevant documents so as to reach
this Directorate latest by 15th June 2008.
4. In the case of children of deceased officers,
the jurisdictional Commissioner/Additional
Director General under whose office the deceased
officer’s family is drawing the pension or in
whose jurisdiction the family is residing, may
forward their applications, if any, along with
the recommendations of the Advisory Committee.
5. The following procedure may be followed while
forwarding the applications:
(i) Commissionerates / Directorates should send
applications/nominations by Regd. / speed post
only. No claim shall be entertained in respect
of applications sent by ordinary post, if not
received in this office.
(ii) Directorate will send acknowledgement of
receipt of application/nomination latest by 30th
of June, 2008.
(iii) The list of applications received shall
also be put on the departmental web site by 15th
of July, 2008.
(iv) In case Commissionerates do not receive
acknowledgement by 15th July, 2008 or omission
of the nominations in the list put up on web
site, they should take up the matter with the
Directorate about inclusion of their
applications/nominations by 31st of July 2008.
(v) No further request for inclusion of
nominations will be entertained after
31.07.2008.
6. The Commissionerates / Directorates who have
forwarded applications / nominations for grant
of scholarship for the academic year 2006-07
prior to issue of the revised Scholarship Scheme
2006-07 should submit fresh applications as per
revised Scholarship Scheme 2006-07.
Applications/nominations forwarded earlier will
not be considered.
7. The applications/nominations received after
closing date (15.06.2008) or incomplete
applications, in any respect, will not be
entertained with out making any reference to the
concerned Commissionerate.
